Card cut to size - a bit bigger than the kindle. I used mount board. In retrospect, I should have cut them bigger.

Fabric cutting. This was some vintage Laura Ashley fabric I bought a while ago. I cut one piece that was a bit bigger than both bits of card with a gap in the middle.

More fabric. Another two pieces which are a bit bigger than one piece of card. I sewed the ends of the long piece with the matching side of the short pieces.

Machine embroidering the fox. I used two layers of fabric with a thin bit of wadding in between. I used an embroidery hoop because it makes life easier. I drew the fox on lightly with a pencil first and then went over the lines about six times.

The basic outline of fox is done!

I added some little scraps of calico to make the fox look more foxy. I sewed these with some red thread and then went over with a small amount of black to make it look better.

Sewing the sides together.

I sewed the fox's body to the right hand side of the long bit of fabric.

But I didn't sew the tail, so it hangs loose.

Turn it over and it looks like this..

I sewed wadding to the short bits of fabric by sewing along the top and bottom edges, meaning that the cover has two pockets (which, when turned inside out, are the pockets for the card).

I also sewed wadding to the other side. This was again in two pieces (although it doesn't need to be, I just didn't have much wadding).

I turned the whole thing inside out. This was annoying because of the wadding.

The other side. Fox!

I put the bits of card into the little pockets. Again with the wadding being annoying. I then sewed the pockets shut.

If I'd been thinking more carefully I would have sewn these triangles onto the piece of fabric before I sewed the whole thing together. As it was I had to hand sew them on. I also added a spine to cover up the pocket ends.

Little fox.

And here it is! It still needs either velcro or a popper on the fox's tail to hold it shut.

Thank you! It could be better in places (forgetting the bits to hold the kindle in place was not my finest moment!), but I am pretty pleased with it. I might try and make a brooch with a similar fox, or something else.

Love the fox design and the blue fabric really sets the red of his coat off nicely.
