Yesterday I visited the Tate Britain and wandered around very happily for about two hours before I accidentally bought a couple of books (Margaret Atwood and Iain M. Banks, if you're interested). After that I sat in Victoria station waiting for Luke to turn up, which he did an hour and twenty minutes late. Normally I might have been irritated, but I had had the foresight to bring Foucault's Pendulum, so the time passed quickly enough. After drinking hot chocolate and catching up with Luke, I met Lee and drank more hot chocolate. I finished Foucault's Pendulum on the way home and started Look to Windward.

Today I painted an egg. Well, I also made a short and garbled presentation about some of my college work, but the egg is more interesting.

I'm quite interested to see whether anyone can guess which artist's work I was looking at right before I started painting.

Kind of looks like a cross between Aubrey Beardsley and Hokusai to me. :) I like it.

You win a prize! It was Aubrey Beardsley.

I was going to post something to you, but it appears that I will be seeing Si next week and possibly you and Sven also so I shan't bother posting it :)

Yay. :) Yes, I would like to be visiting you too please, if that's ok? :]

I like your egg.

You should use it as an enigmatic lj icon.

Ouef!

Of course! It will be lovely to see you - I'll tell the parents when next I see them (which will be Sunday) that they have the hordes of Edinburgh decending. They have been told that there was a high chance of it so hopefully it won't be too much of a shock. ;)

You can't just taunt us with the names of writers - which books did you buy?!?!?

Oh, and that's a gorgeous egg.

Look to Windward and Bodily Harm.

And thanks.

Ah, you pick at a trivia blind-spot!

Oooh, Look to Windward.

Did you realise it was a sequel to Consider Phlebas? And kinda a wrap-up of The Culture novels?

Pretty!

I was going to ask what you made the egg out of, but then I realised it actually is an egg. :D

[identity profile] cybik.livejournal.com 2006-04-08 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much. I've not read all the Culture novels, but I have read Consider Phlebas (though don't quiz me because it was quite a while ago and I have no doubt forgotten everything).

He's an author I dabble with; I like his work but rarely read more than one or two a year, though I'm never quite sure why I don't read more.

Clearly you need to go to more galleries. ;)

That's a very nice egg!

I've heard the name at least :o)

And yes I do!

Ooh! Black and white eggy! Kinda like the anti-easter egg of beautiful doom. :)

I like the design very much. :) I actually would have guessed Kay Nielsen and not Aubrey Beardsley, but they are really quite closely related so do I get any points?
