I made a brooch.

I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm questioning everything I make at the moment, but this at least is finished.

It's made of sterling silver, 18ct gold and stainless steel (the pin, which you can't see).

Landscape brooch

I think it looks a little better in real life than in this photo. I may have to experiment with photographing it.

It's based on landscape, of course, but abstracted a little. Maybe not enough? Maybe too much? I don't know!

i like it :)

I think when you get in creative droughts it's a good idea to expose yourself to other art; watch some films, read some books, scour the inernet forr interesting photos. You should try and visit edinburgh more, go to exhibitions and things. (and see people :)

wish i could have managed to visit but time and money and now the festival have gotten in the way :(

Yes, you're right. I miss going to exhibitions - but the problem is money, really. Exhibitions have a tendency to be a bit expensive.

I am coming up to Edinburgh on the 19th to see Neil Gaiman. Depending on what's happening on the day before and the day after I might either come up early or leave later. Are you at all free around then?

i don't really know to be honest, it being the festival it's all a bit mental around then. I think the 18th i'm probably busy but the 19th or 20th might be more sensible.
